St. Lucie County Fair with Sister Emily

This weekend was sooooo awesome!  I will definitely be posting more once I get more pictures, but did not want to let this weekend pass without sharing our most awesome weekend!  My sister Emily has a course that she needs to take out in Tampa this coming week, but left early so that she could spend time with us.  It was only a day and a half, but we packed A LOT in.  We started on Saturday afternoon by visiting Oxbow EcoCenter.  It was a very nice place to go to walk around and explore Florida's natural wildlife.  As I expected, we did not see tortises, egrets, or alligators jumping out at every turn, but we did see a couple of lizards, crickets, and butterflies.  Tucker was very fascinated by the crickets.

Today we went to the Fair.  It was a very exciting moment for me because I know how much Tucker loves that sort of thing when it comes to rides due to the train ride he went on at the Pineapple Festival.  Tucker absolutely LOVED the GOATS!!!  $4 bucks in carrot chips and he was a happy man.  He also liked going down the GIANT slide and the Carousel.  Here are some pictures from over the weekend that my sister took with her IPhone.

Tucker and Zoe

It is not always easy to get a picture of Tucker and Zoe together.  I was able to snap a couple of pictures of the two of them before Zoe got up.  This was all Tucker's idea.  I just got lucky that I was sitting at the computer and the Camera was right there.  They are best friends!

Blanket Rescue and New Blanket

Ean's green crochet blanket was broken.  Carla thought she would need to throw it out, but I told her I could repair it.  This was a special blanket Ean's grandmother made, but since she has really bad arthritis she couldn't make another one.  So in a matter of an hour, I seamed it together, and Ean was happy.  Ean is a blankie baby.  Fixing this blanket got me inspired and I have now started a new crochet baby blanket for Ean.

I love this pattern so much that I can't wait to be done with Ean's to get started on Tucker's.  Here is what it looks like so far....

Crochet and Knitting Finds

This weekend I so scored on Crochet and Knitting supplies and Yarn.  For $30 I got the below:

As any Crocheter or Knitter would know, you can't pass up FREE yarn, even if you have no idea what project you are going to use it for.  I'm laughing at the Pom-Pom yarn because I personally would never go out and buy it at a craft store, but hey, all I need to know are a few young girls that would love a nifty scarf, and there we go....problem solved.

Then there's the "I-Cord" maker.  This is a pretty cool machine.  I see many creative projects ahead with this neat little tool!

The quilting squares are bonus too because of my ongoing bookcover making project.

KNITTING LOOMS!  I had been holding off getting these.  Glad I did.  I am truly more of a crocheter than a knitter.  I find Crocheting to be faster and more creative, but like the stretchability of a knit piece.  I had started an afghan of just knitted stitches using circular needles, but after 3 weeks, it's junk.  Basically, I started with a cast on of 32 and now I am down to 20.  The piece measures about 2 ft long.  Oh well.  I treat knitting more as a stress relief activity anyway.  I enjoy going through the motions but end up unraveling and repurposing the yarn.

These looms, however, are my new answer to completing a finished KNIT piece.  I am so excited.  I love this process so much better!!!

And FINALLY, you can never underestimate the value of BOOKS filled with patterns.  These books help with the inspiration and motivation process.

I know, call me a crochet and knitting geek, but this is what makes me happy.

These were great finds, and I can't wait to make and create!

Determined

A nearly two year olds stream of conscious to go with the below picture:

"Ok....my legs are cold.  This isn't right.  I'm fussing.  Mom's not paying attention.  I'm fussing.  Still Nothing...ZoZo.....ZoZo.....guess she can't help me....oh...pair of shorts lying on the floor....ok...let's do this.....Three minutes later.....ok....I guess I fussed enough to get Mom's attention.  I am so frustrated right now and all mom wants to do is take a picture.....seriously!"

Valentine's & More

After a week of Bill and I being sick off and on, we really didn't realize that today was Valentine's Day.  I personally think that it is a silly holiday that puts a lot of pressure on a man to buy roses or try to come up with something to "Top" that to prove to the one they love that they love them.  At any rate, Bill returned to work today after being sick, so I was really not counting on anything.  Well he comes home and surprises me with this:

Oh my God!  They were absolutely delicious.  No longer is Valentines a "Silly" holiday.  And I would not mind adopting this as a new Valentine's Tradition!  Someone else enjoyed them too!

I've been meaning to put up some pictures of Tucker at his daycare.  I took them with my cheapo flip cell phone so they are not the best quality.  Tucker likes to play with his three buddies....Mark, Gavin and Ean.  He loves saying their names too - Especially Mark.  Tucker is about 1 month older than Gavin, and about 4 to 6 months older than Ean and Mark.  No picture of Ean here...but I'll get one.  Ean is Carla's boy and he is very attached to his crochet blankies that his grandmother made for him.  Turns out that one of them looked like it was completely destroyed, but I took a look at it and within an hour I was able to repair it.  I'll save that post for tomorrow.

Window Washer

As my family may already know, Cleaning is not my thing.  However, there comes a time when it absolutely must get done.

Apparently our sliding door was too dirty and Tucker took it upon himself to clean it.  I had  been looking at that slider for about two weeks now thinking to myself that I needed to clean it, but never got around to doing it, due to laziness.

I admit, I'm lazy, especially when it comes to cleaning.  But today, I finally got it done, Thank you Tucker for pointing it out for me.

He's a good little helper.  I may not have the cleanest house, but I have a happy little boy that I love spending time with.  He's just there to let me know when it's absolutely necessary to clean something.

It was all his fingerprints anyway!

Free Money

Yes there really is such a thing.
See the back of my truck?

It is filled with License Plate Frames.  It's a long story, but I reap the benefits.  Basically, about a year or two ago, our company ordered these Zinc Alloy shiny license plate frames to go on every Wallace car that gets sold.  The problem was there was a defect in batches and batches of frames.  The epoxy of the Wallace logo lettering was not adhered correctly, thus resulting in letters falling out.  So because of the defect, new frames were ordered, and because of quality control our advertising department needs to check in the bad frames.  After check in I get to load them up in my truck and bring them to Atlantic Coast Recycling.  Normally my loads bring me between $30 and $35 every other month.  This load however fetched me a cool $101.  ChaChing!

Taxes and Teething

That pretty much summed up the past couple of days.

I was the one in charge of getting everything prepared for H&R block this year.  I didn't do a very good job.  Just lessons learned for next year.  I'm still frustrated about it, but all I can do now is just roll some unaccounted stuff into next year's taxes so that we'll get a better refund next year.

And yes, Tucker is so teething.  He is getting his farthest back molars on one side of his mouth.  Yes, that's right, two at a time....but that's the way he rolls.  After this he only has two more to go and then he's done - and he's not even 2 yet!

Here's the cutie.  For some reason he has a fascination for sunglasses, but try putting a hat on him....forget it!  It has been altered in photoshop using a filter called "cutout".  I thought it looked pretty neat.

TransAm

Today was a very happy day for Bill.  After about two years of having the 1995 Pontiac TransAm off the road (uninsured/unregistered), today all of that changed.  The TransAm is a special Family Car with great sentimental value.  This is the project car.  Specifically the car that is to be passed down to Tucker.  As part of the induction ceremony, Tucker helped Daddy put the license plate on.
